Amazing to have been able to work with such an icon of our time, Lee Pearson CBE 14 time Paralympic Gold medalist and many many times world champion. I took a life cast workign with Lee at his home and from that I decided to make the piece from a huge block of Otialian Alabaster. It was the only one in my series The Avenue of Champions to be stoine and back then I realised what a phenomenonen he was and how he was dominating his sport and would continue to do so for many years to come. The final sculpture has the main feature of the man, (front view) and his horse, (back view) as the 2 together have become one in the arena, i thought it should be as close as possible in the sculpture. This work is now in the perminante collection of BT UK in their head office in the BT Tower London.
