November 20th: Mark Ormrod sculpture sells at auction for a record breaking £38,000.00
This sculpture has now been donated to the new Royal Marines Museum being built in Portsmouth. As fitting a location as could have been wished for. General Sir Gorden Messenger KCB DOS* & Bar OBE ADC said "This is the right outcome for this wonderful piece of art history" He then presented Ben with the 40 Commando's shield, a very special gift of thanks for his donation. The proceeds will be split between the Royal Marines Charity as well as BLESMA The Limbless Veterans Charity. The sculpture has now gone on display at MOD London and will continue to share Mark's story well into the future.
November: The Marble torso, 'Undefeated' Ben has sculpted of Ex Royal Marine Mark Ormrod, is to be part of the show 'Art in The Aftermath' exhibition in Pall Mall London 6th -18th. After this event it will go on to be auctioned to help raise funds for the Royal Marines charity as well as the original veterans charity BLESMA. After Mark's amazing displays at this years INVICTUS games we can only sit back and admire his determination to succeed at whatever he chooses to do. Congratulations to Mark, one of many amazing individuals who have quite literally put their lives on the line for us all.
July to October: City of Bath. Ben will be at St John the Evangelist church, carving a huge sculpture for the Garden of Peace. It is the largest single block of stone work he has undertaken to date and is destined to become a sacred work of art. One which combines many old sculptural traditions, with new technologies of our modern world: his mission here, to bring light into the darkness.

June to July: Abergavenny Arts Festival. Including sculpture in the grounds of the Castle and museum, free entry 15th June to 15th July. + on the 30th why not come and 'Have a go' at stone carving with Ben and see how you like the art of sculpting stone.

February 2018 MARK ORMROD UNDEFEATED, a new work in marble.
Ex-Royal Marine and current Invictus Games Champion, Mark Ormrod, has been working closely with Ben over the past year on an incredible project. Both giving time and energy + in Mark's case, his body! and in Ben's case a huge 150k block of finest Italian marble, to help to raise funds and awareness for two charities close to Mark's heart. The Royal Marines Charity and Blesma, The Limbless Veterans.
Ben says, "We are now most fortunate to have the support of Lady Susanna Zaliskyj and the team from S Z ART, who are leading this project as we go forward. Please do get in touch with her to find out how you can help in this amazing 1918 - 2018 Centenary Anniversary fund raising project which will help other ex-service men and women who are facing the long road to recovery".

August 23rd: Cardigan Castle, unveiling of The Sword of Peace, A new work in slate and stained glass with poets Gillian Clarke and Ceri Wyn Jones.
June: Royal Marine and INVICTUS Games super star Mark Ormrod has been working with Ben on a unique sculpture collaboration to create a one off sculpture in Italian marble from the mountains of Carrara. A new film by Moth Media is being made to capture the amazing story of this invincible human spirit.
April-June: Highfield Developments commission, Newbury. A large series of sculptures carved directly into the brick walls of this contemporary development.
April: New gallery in the Lake District with Peter Hill. Showing a new series of works created from the local stone, inspired by the Lakes and the poetry from this beautiful region on the UK.

August: France, Sculpture By the Chateau. A weekend of fine sculpture set within the grounds of Chateau de Dourlers with Ben carving each day to create a piece for auction to help raise funds for the French charity for the disabled APF.
July: RHS Tatton Park
Flower Show 2016: Ben's new works in Welsh slate and stained glass have been chosen for this summer's show – a fantastic way to view art is as it was designed. His garden sculptures are a vibrant and dynamic way of complementing the planting without taking over. Ben will also be on site during this show, so if you would like to make an appointment please do get in touch to see how he can work with you.
April: Contemporary artist Paul K Squire has added me to his collection of portraits. It is an honour to be chosen to join his new series, which will go on tour later this year. Paul's work captures the story of his subject's life and holds it up to the world in a truly unique way. His work is rich in texture and the use of color creates a real time capsule. Thank you Paul, great job.

January 2016: Cardigan Castle sculpture project gets go ahead with support from Cadwgan Trust. Ben says "It is a great honour to be working on this important cultural collaboration with the National Poet of Wales Gillian Clarke and Ceri Wyn Jones, the twice crowned Bard of the National Eisteddfod. The final sculpture will become in a small way, a monument to Peace and holds true something of the original principles of the first Eisteddfod of 1176". Watch this news page for more information coming later in the year as this December will see the 840th Anniversary Celebrations being held at the Castle.

September 2015, New Australian Art Trail opens connecting Ben Dearnley's works in a one day cultural feast. Starting at the Muswellbrook Art Gallery, onto the winery of Two Rivers in Denman and then to David Mahony's sculpture gardens in Sandy Hollow. This part of the Upper Hunter Valley is a real treat to visit and with this new Art Trail, you can sample something of what makes this such a special place. The country side, the food and wines, the great coffee and of course the art too.

June 2015: Champion gymnast Louis Smith MBE unveils bronze at Peterborough's new Vivacity sports complex, with a video link from Ben in Australia. The inspirational athlete is still going for gold, winning the gold at the 2015 European Artistic Gymnastics Championships is just the next step towards the coming Olympics.

Winter solstice, Australia 21st June, dawn. Ben has been hard at work on his Two Rivers sculpture project (www.tworiverswines.com.au) and with 4 weeks to go until the unveiling it is an exciting time for him as he completes this huge project.

In a collaboration with the double Olympic Gold rowing winner Steve Williams OBE, Ben has donated a unique Ink drawing for this years Sport Relief fund raising ventures.
This Auction helped to raise just over £18,000 for the charity, thank you to all the bids and the well done to the final winner of this original work.

The Festival of Stone sculpture Father of the Bicycle, is unveiled in the lovely setting of the Aston Court estate in Bristol, with Malcolm Shepard, C E of Sustrans. October 2013 Llannon, west coast of Wales ULG
The Black Rock Estate stone commission is completed, a unique marker for this new development of sea side homes created on site to reflect the coastline stretching south towards New Quay.
S4C (Welsh C4 TV) interview Ben on his talking stone and the many famous character references hidden in the back surface.
My Talking Stone project for Caerwedros. This large standing slate stone will become a marker for the new hall with the lettering reflecting the ancient Celtic Welsh history of this land. Along with the the pictorial references carved in relief, within hidden spaces in the back: this stone will tell many tales.
July 2013, New Client:
British Telecom, set up their Lee Pearson (Paralympics dressage Champion) sculpture in the BT Tower, London head office.
This now sits along side my Christine Ohurougu bronze owned by AVIVA, who showcase this work in their own London head office at 1 Undershaft EC1 + in the city of Bath, my Mark Foster, 3 tonne carving in Bath stone and Peterborough County Council' Louis Smith bronze, all makes for a decent legacy of sculpture works which celebrate those amazing athletes.

My sculpture 'EMERGENCE' has a direct link to the Father of the Bicycle Industry and inventor of the Penny Farthing, James Starley, 1831-1881. Who was a major influence in bringing us the kind of cycle we ride today. The finished sculpture is destined to be located as a permanent public sculpture within the beautiful grounds of Ashton Court, Bristol.
Long may it watch over the many cyclists who will pass it by, remembering one of our great British inventors.

Chelsea Flower Show 100th anniversary May 2013
2013 New Gallery, West Wales Arts Centre Fishguard, will be showing my sculptures in stone and glass from March. Also, I will be showing at T5 gallery Heathrow, my London gallery in Mayfair Belgravia Gallery, and will open up my studio with The Ceredigion Art Trail this summer.

Avenue of Champions launch June 21st at Salisbury Cathedral, a most successful start of this show which runs in parallel to the 12 week 2012 Cultural celebration programme for the summer Games.
2012 Live Carving Day In preparation for the 2013 Festival of Stone
In 2012 I took part in the Bristol Festival of Stone Live carving day, with special guests Hayley Diamond (UK Team) and the amazing French team from Southern France. This proved to be a great taster of what is to come in 2013. A fantastic day was had by all and a fitting start to the coming Festival. We even had the media attending that day carving stone for the first time which was very entertaining! Good luck to everyone who gets a place and all those in the organising team and may the Gods send clement weather for the duration of the Festival.

My Leap of Faith, is touring the country with this Essex County Council / LONDON 2012 Inspired Project.
Arts in Parliament is an innovative and unique programme which brings art, music, dance and poetry into the iconic setting of the Houses of Parliament from June to September 2012. Working with artistic partners and individuals from across the UK, Parliament has devised a programme presenting new and existing performances and exhibitions. The programme represents and celebrates the diverse cultural fabric of the UK.

1st May: The Salisbury Giant commission.
This commission was a fun collaboration with my artist wife Lynn Parr, as we joined forces to create the giant Jubilee May Queen and the Salisbury Corgi, for the huge festival in the grounds of Salisbury Cathedral on the 1st May 2012. The GIANT is now available to view in the Guildhall Salisbury. Thank you to everyone who came on the day to help and all those fantastic decorated diamonds and squares which made the project so special.
2012 is going to be a fantastic year for sport as well as the Arts. As one of 'BT's 'Art of Sport' artists there are some great events coming up: This will be the first time to be able to view and buy some amazing art produced by some of the UK's top artists. Olympic Film for UK TV
Currently under way is an exciting new film by the internationally renowned film maker Shelley Williams. This will become one of the UK's Legacy films, capturing the spirit of the amazing Olympian and Paralympian athletes who have helped to make up my "Avenue of Champions' series which will be shown in full at Salisbury Cathedral during the 2012 Games.
